Behaviour assessment – First session,  1 ½ hours - $99

What is the first step ?

A behaviour and temperament assessment is the first step when beginning a training program.
It allows us to assess your dog’s individual personality as well as the relationship between the dog and the owners.
We use this information to put together a customized training program for your family.

At this session, we will complete a behavioural profile, observe your dog's behaviour and temperament, discuss origins of problem behaviours if there are any, discuss management and behaviour modification, outline exercises that can help change your dog's behaviour immediately and long term, and answer any questions you may have.

Sometimes it just takes 1 or 2 lessons to get you on the right track, sometimes its a bit more work involved by all parties. That's ok we can work to your needs, abilities and budget. I dont bite give me a call and find out how I can help.

Puppy & owner education – "in your home" 3-6 sessions, 1 hour each

How does a puppy grow into a happy
and obedient dog?

With early education.

This is important for puppies from 6 weeks to 6 months of age. This period is the most critical time during the life of your dog!
If proper training and socialisation occur now, you will have a happy, well balanced and obedient dog in the future.
Training is tailored to your needs and will include: how to properly socialise (expose) to everything, care for and handle, toilet training, stopping unwanted behavior such as nipping, chewing and jumping up, and beginning shaping & obedience training.

What do you mean by socialisation v habituation?
All puppies need to be safely exposed to as many different places, people, environments and situations as possible without over stimulating them. This is even more critical for the puppy that is unsure of itself, shy or fearful.
Socialisation is the process of teaching puppies to relate to humans and other animals.
Habituation is the process of allowing puppies to become accustomed to a range of environments including noises, sensations, surfaces, etc .
Both must be done at an early age in order to be successful. Failure to socialise and habituate puppies correctly can result in fearful or aggressive adult dogs.
The generic word for this is socialisation which is often misinterpreted as just getting your dog used to playing with other dogs.

Obedience Training – "in your home"  3-6 sessions, 1 hour each

How do I teach my dog basic commands
and how to interact peacefully with my family?

Basic (on-leash) and Advanced (off-leash) lessons are available.
Your dog will learn to walk on a loose lead, heel, sit, down, stay in place and come on command.
Problem behaviour such as jumping and pulling on lead will be corrected.
This program is tailored to you and your dog's individual needs.

Problem Behaviour Solving – number of sessions will be determined by extent of problem

My dog does a lot of things right … and some things wrong. How can I fix specific problems?

Many behaviour problems are the result of inadequate communication between dog and owner. Emma teaches dog owners how to better understand their dogs’ behaviour and how to communicate effectively. She will reveal how to use your own behaviour and  body language to teach your dog what specific words mean and how and why they should respond. This program covers aggression, separation anxiety, fear, and confidence.
